Purge™ Laminar Flow Hood

Purge™ Laminar Flow Hood

The Purge Laminar Flow Hood is a complete system intended to meet the most demanding applications. An
ergonomically sloped front access area affords the operator
more comfort and better reach to the clean air hoods interior, while the integrated white polypropylene base provides a clean and chemical resistance work surface in which to conduct the intended procedures. The polypropylene base also increases the strength and integrity of the hoods structural body, allowing convenient portability for placement on any available table or counter top.

A fluorescent lamp provides for general task lighting and an ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) source for disinfecting against micro-organisms, which when coupled with the systems HEPA filtration system, can be purged from work environment. The stainless steel control box, which is also a code compliant electrical box, interfaces the clean air hood components into a standalone system with UV light system controls. Applications requiring the use of liquids can select an optional polypropylene spill containment tray. Purge Laminar Flow Hoods are available in (3) standard sizes and standard voltages of 120V 50Hz and 240V 50/60Hz. Custom sizes and configurations are available upon special request.

Features

Cleanroom Synergy fits each Purge Laminar Flow Hood with a Dual Lamp Light Shield/Control Box Interface system providing the operator independent control over the fluorescent and germicidal UV light sources and combines hood, the light shield and motorized fan filter unit into a integrated system.
a. The Light Shield is fabricated from 304 stainless steel, and its wrap design directs the light at the work surface and not into the eyes of the operator nor directly to the sides. Installed within the light shield are two fixtures, one with a fluorescent lamp and the other with a 254 nm ultraviolet germicidal lamp. The wiring interface between the light shield and the control box is sealed via a liquid-tight bulkhead fitting.
b. The Control Box is fabricated from 304 stainless steel and is externally mounted to the right side of the Purge Laminar Flow Hood. Designed as a code compliant electrical box to accommodate the Purge Laminar Flow Hoods electrical devices. Features include; 18" long power cord installed on the motorized fan HEPA filter unit, electrical outlet for motorized fan HEPA filter unit power, on/off switch for fluorescent light operation, electronic countdown timer with multiple presets for ultraviolet germicidal light operation, 8' power cord for connection to a convenience outlet and other required components for overall system operation. The ultraviolet germicidal lighting system included on the Purge Laminar Flow Hood features electronic countdown timer with micro-switch safety device and continuous HEPA filtration purging when turned to the "on" position.
a. Integrated micro switch allows operation of the germicidal light source only when the two-piece access shield is placed in the "fully-down" position.
b. Electronic countdown timer features (4) selectable times (5 – 30 minutes) for ultraviolet germicidal light operation and a "hold" button for continuous operation. LED indicators illuminate user selected setting.
c. Continuous operation of the motorized fan HEPA filter unit eliminates possible contamination influx during the ultraviolet light sterilization cycle. Independent on/off control allows the motorized fan HEPA filter unit to be powered down if so desired.

A two-piece access shield is standard on all Purge Laminar Flow Hoods, which include adjustable friction hinges for safe operation while setting it to one of its three operating positions.
a. Position #1: The "fully-up" position allows larger processing equipment to be placed within the Purge Laminar Flow Hoods work area
b. Position #2: The "half down" position allows the operator convenient access to the work area, while controlling contamination influx by optimizing the vertical laminar flow of air provided by the motorized fan HEPA filter unit
c. Position #3: The "fully-down" position allows the ultraviolet germicidal lamp to be turned on for sterilization of the work area and to protect against sample contamination. UV light operation can be interrupted by raising the access shield from the "fully-down" position, even if the digital countdown timer has not yet timed out
To help operator concentration, the Purge Laminar Flow Hood features an industry leading low noise (nominally 50Dba) type motorized fan HEPA (99.99% efficient @ .3micron) filter unit, which provides the hood with an ISO 5 (Class 100) work environment. In addition, the motorized fan filter unit HEPA media provides full coverage over the hoods work area to minimize air flow "dead spots" and maximizes protection against cross contamination from ambient air. Standard features include an on/off switch, a *speed controller and a minimized length long power cord for plug-in connection to the control box. *Note: 2' and 3' wide units come standard with a solid-state speed controller. 4' wide hoods come standard with a three-speed switch (low-med-high).
